Department Overview: The Cando Switching Team provides timely, effective and safe railcar switching services for the Imperial Oil Refinery located in East Edmonton, Alberta. This refinery produces and supplies most of the petroleum products for the NWT and Northern BC markets. Switching services are provided on a 20-hours a day, 6 days a week basis. Three, 3 person switch crews manage the Imperial Oil railyard, which has a storage capacity of 225 cars. Approximately 75 outbound railcars are interchanged daily with the CN and CP railways.
